Newly Hired: Youth Faith Formation Coordinator
and St. Mary Music Director
You have heard about us searching to fill these two key openings on the Pastoral Team that serves our collaborative parishes, and now I am very pleased to make this initial introduction of those we have recently hired.
We were fortunate to have a couple of our own parishioners among the applicants for the Youth Faith Formation Coordinator role, and we’re glad to have each of them involved in our parishes. Ultimately, the search committee for this role helped me to select Sarah Merigold to lead the catechists and students in our Pre-Confirmation (middle-school) and high school Confirmation preparation program. Sarah and her husband Josh have been active members of St. Martha Parish more than a dozen years, and they both volunteer in various roles, including as Usher-Greeters at Mass. Sarah’s other job is as a fifth-grade teacher in the St. Mary-Sacred Heart School in North Attleboro, and her principal says, “She puts the ‘gold’ in ‘Merigold’!” Sarah’s friendly, positive approach to sharing our faith and to education in general will help her win over the youth, their parents, and our volunteer catechists. Thankfully, Courtney Jacobson will continue to provide administrative support for this ministry and help make Sarah’s transition into her new role smoothly as they prepare to start working together in mid-August.
Earlier today (Tuesday), Fr. Lambert and I enjoyed spending some time with the new Director of Music Ministries for St. Mary Parish, Patrice Metcalf. The music interview committee and I, along with the members of our music ministry with whom she auditioned think she is a great fit. Patrice comes to us with experience as a music director in two Catholic parishes for several years each, where she led a variety of styles of worship music as was appropriate for each parish. Between those experiences, her skills in piano, voice, and organ, and her humble and kind personality, I am excited to see how she will continue to enhance the variety of music groups and vocalists we are blessed to have volunteering in St. Mary Parish. Be sure to congratulate Patrice on her engagement to be married this November! We will welcome Patrice at the weekend Masses starting in August, and she looks forward to leading our congregation and music ministers as she gets to know us better.
We recently interviewed some good candidates for the remaining open role on buildings & grounds at St. Mary, so I hope to hire someone for that position very soon. Thank you for your prayers that we might find people to join our ministry team who will help us continue to fulfill our mission of loving and worshipping the Lord, sharing the Good News, and making disciples!
