Lent, a season of remembrance and reflection, allows the music ministry programs of both parishes to work in collaboration by introducing new Latin acclamations during the Eucharistic Prayers in preparation for our shared liturgies during the Easter Triduum. The Kyrie eleison is the original form of the “Lord have mercy” prayer. The Sanctus is the original form of the “Holy, Holy, Holy” with which we are familiar. Finally, the Agnus Dei is the ancient text of our “Lamb of God”. Understanding that the past, present, and future are all united in the eternal celebration of the Mass, the Latin text, set to modern melodies, is meant to allow our community to join our prededessors and posterity in the common song of our tradition
