“Healed, Converted, Formed, and Unified”
In an age marked by division and doubt, the Holy Spirit is inviting the United States to find unity and renewal through a grassroots National Eucharistic Revival. This movement—discerned and approved by the bishops of the U.S.—is critical to rekindling a living faith in the hearts of Catholics across America, unleashing a new missionary chapter at this pivotal moment in Church history.
Under the guidance and inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the Catholic Church in our country is playing a key role in renewing the Church and the hearts of all the Catholic faithful. This movement has come a long way from its beginnings. Initially, we were searching for a way to respond to post-pandemic indifference toward full participation in the Sunday Eucharist and an all-time low in the belief of ordinary Catholics in the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. This blossomed into a three-year period of renewal of the Church in her leaders and all members of the Body of Christ, “to renew the Church by enkindling a living relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist.”. The vision is “to inspire a movement of Catholics across the United States who are healed, converted, formed and unified by an encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist – and who are then sent out on mission ‘for the life of the world.’” We are approaching a pivotal moment in this three-year National Eucharistic Revival.
Starting this Wednesday and continuing through next Sunday (July 13-21), all Catholics in the United States are invited to take part in something that has not happened in our country in 83 years: a National Eucharistic Congress. At this historic event, tens of thousands of Catholics of all ages will gather in Indianapolis to worship our Risen Lord in his humble disguise (bread and wine). Through this experience, the Church will draw into a deeper intimacy with our Eucharistic Lord, allowing our eyes to be opened and our hearts to be set ablaze with his love. The Holy Spirit will light a missionary fire in the heart of our nation as we reconsecrate ourselves to the source and summit of our faith. Participants will then be sent out on mission “for the life of the world.”
You can watch or listen to key parts of the Eucharistic Congress on Relevant Radio (550AM/Providence, 1150AM/Boston, or the free Relevant Radio app), as well as Catholic Television (CTV) and EWTN. Many lay faithful and clergy from our Boston archdiocese will be attending this event in person, and our Plainville-Wrentham Collaborative will be represented by Maggie Hoagland, a longtime parishioner, part of our Pastoral Team and member of the Pastors Leadership Team.
Let’s all pray that this Eucharistic Congress, as the highpoint in our revival journey as the Church in the U.S., may touch many lives and deepen our own “intimacy with our Risen Lord.”
