“Gaudete in Domino semper”-Phil 4:4-5, “Rejoice in the Lord Always”.
Gaudete means “Rejoice”, and on the Third Sunday of Advent, our joy mounts as we anticipate the birthday of Our Lord Jesus . On Gaudete Sunday, we celebrate Bambinelli Sunday, a tradition given to us by Pope St. John Paul II.
The full tradition includes placing a piece of straw in your creche for each sacrifice and good deed during Advent to make Jesus more comfortable upon his arrival. Bring your Baby Jesus figurines to mass on Gaudete Sunday for a blessing and place Him in the comfort of your manger on Christmas Day.
