From Ashes to Resurrection: Sharing in Transformation
We’re about to enter the powerful season of Lent, a time of ongoing conversion or “turning back” to the God who is the source of all life and blessings, and to the Savior who showed the depth of his love for us through his own suffering, death, and resurrection. We are excited this year to walk this Lenten journey with five adults participating in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, (RCIA) who will receive the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil. Jesus invites us and them to walk this path of His sacrificial love together,
as his disciples. Disciples are learners, apprentices who model their life vocation according to the model of the master-artisan. As disciples we are “doers” even though we are still learning, growing, perfecting our craft of lovingly serving God and our neighbor.
This Lent our Plainville-Wrentham Catholic Collaborative is excited to announce the following special events. To prepare us for Lent, Fr. Lambert is preaching another special evening of
Prayer and Adoration on Mardi Gras: this
Tuesday, 7pm at St. Mary Parish.
This is designed to complement our
Lenten Mission: Don’t be afraid to draw near to Jesus, which will be at St. Martha this year at 7pm (new time) on March 16-
18, led by Sister Regina Dick, Daughters of St. Paul.
Our
Ash Wednesday schedule this week (see bulletin) is
changed slightly to provide more options for people of both parishes: instead of both evening Masses being at the same time, the Mass at St. Martha is at 6pm and at St. Mary is at 7pm. This is in addition to two morning Masses and two afternoon prayer services with ashes (see separate schedule).
AfternoonStations of the Cross will be offered every Friday at 4pm in St. Mary church, and there will be a few Evening Stations as well. Our Catholics in Action youth ministry will again offer
Stations in Silhouette on Tuesday March 24, 7:30pm at St. Mary, and
Evening Stations with Music will be scheduled at St. Martha.
Today, please be sure to take with you an
Abundant Hope “baby bottle” (at St. Martha) or a
Catholic Relief “rice bowl” (at St. Mary) to collect change and the money we save with our Lenten sacrifices.
LaSallette Shrine & Retreat Center have many activities planned this Lent also (
lasaletteretreatcenter.org). And
keep checking pwc.church and our bulletins for other Lenten activities as we add them to the calendar.
Watch the times and locations carefully. Let’s keep growing as disciples this Lent!
