While most people have returned to attending church, there are always some who are not able to attend due to circumstances such as recovery from surgery, compromised immunity, or limited mobility. Jesus wants to be with all of us, especially those facing illness or the challenges of aging. To bring prayer and the Eucharist more often than our priests alone can do, we rely on some specially trained parishioners.
The Communion Outreach Ministry is a Collaborative team of 10 volunteer Eucharistic Ministers who visit the homebound and nursing home residents in the Plainville/Wrentham area. The team currently serves approximately 125 people. There is a time of prayer, providing the Eucharist and a short visit.
The visits at the three nursing homes are done on a weekly basis with a monthly in-house Mass at two of the nursing homes. Visits to the assisted living residence are done on a biweekly basis providing a Mass on one week and prayer service on the other week. This year the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is being celebrated at a special Mass in each facility, as well as individually and at homes upon request.
If you or anyone you know is unable to attend at church, please contact the parish office so we can bring these important Sacraments to you at home.
