Note from Fr. Joe: While the shortage of priests in the western world is well known, there are parts of the world that have abundant priests and we are now benefiting from priests born in other countries coming to our aid (as American priests have done for other countries in the past). Two of the priests I interviewed were born oversees but studied in our Boston seminar-ies, and I believe both of them would be a good fit for our needs. While I have input into the assignment pro-cess, it is the Cardinal who decides and sends us out like Jesus did with the apostles. I will keep you updated as the process moves forward.
A New Priest for Our Collaborative?
Note from Fr. Joe: Following the loving way Fr. Bill announced the next steps of his journey last weekend, many people are asking about our next steps seeking
another priest to serve our parishes.
While there are not enough priests to fill all the vacant positions, I remain optimistic that we should have another priest assigned to us during the spring transfer process (a little
like “match day” for medical residents). I have interviewed two priests who might be a good fit for us, and this week another was proposed for me to meet with.
While I have input into the assignment process, it is the Cardinal who decides and sends us out like Jesus did with the apostles. I will keep you updated as the process moves forward.
