The Knights of Columbus (K of C) was founded in 1882 by a young priest, Father Michael J. McGivney, in the basement of a Catholic Church in New Haven, Connecticut. Today the Knights of Columbus, which supports parish priests as well as Catholic families in their journey of faith, has become the largest lay organization of the church, with over 15,000 councils and 1.9 million members throughout the world.
This fraternal service group is open to all male members of the parish over the age of 18 who are willing to work for their church and the community through efforts of charity, unity and patriotism with a special focus on serving those who are in need.
