When we resumed public Masses early in the pandemic, we had to remove our hymnals for a time. We eventually replaced them with QR codes (square images in the pews) to read on mobile devices, and now weekly song sheets at most Masses. Now that we can return to sharing materials in the pews, we have an opportunity to study other options to determine which will be best for our Parishes. Hymnal options include the annual softcover hymnals, Breaking Bread, which also contains readings for each week; or permanent hardcover hymnals with lyrics and music, without the readings. Another option churches are discovering are screens discreetly placed in the church to display the words. We are also considering continuing to use some form of the paper handouts as well. Each option has pros & cons! The pastor is consulting the Sunday Experience Team and the Collaborative Pastoral Council on your behalf.
