Saintly Reflection on Adoration
Pope Saint John Paul II wrote these words about Adoration:
“The Church and the world have a great need for Eucharistic worship. Jesus awaits us in this sacrament of love. Let us not refuse the time to go to meet him in adoration, in contemplation full of faith, and open to making amends for the serious offenses and crimes of the world.
Let our adoration never cease.”
"Could you not watch one hour with Me?" Matt 26:40
Eucharistic Adoration is adoring and honoring the Eucharistic Presence of Christ.
During Adoration, we "watch and wait." As we remain "silent" in His Presence we open ourselves to His Graces which flow from the Eucharist.
As Catholics, we believe that Christ is truly and substantially present in the Eucharist. The Blessed Sacrament is given the same adoration and devotion that is accorded to
Christ.
Adoration is an opportunity to have some time alone with Jesus. During Adoration, you may wish to pray the rosary, read Sacred Scripture, recite favorite prayers, contemplate acts of faith, hope, charity, thanksgiving, and reparation, do the Stations of the Cross, or just sit and enjoy His peaceful Presence.
